It's got a Y8 manifold on it, but it's not a Y8 engine, dipstick is between the 2nd and 3rd runners of the exhaust manifold. Check the head stamp. If it says P2J it's a Y8 head, if it says P08 it's a D16Z6/D15B Vtec head. What crank pulley? If it has the the hex hole the crank pulley holder it's probably a Z6 bottom end, if it has a series of holes around the outside it's probably a D15B7/D15B8 bottom end, although both pulleys are interchangeable. Driver's side engine mount is from a '94 - '95 VX/EX/Si model.

does the head have a vtec solenoid on the left side of the head? if there is no vtec solenoid its a d15B7 as stated above with a y8 intake manifold.... if it does have a vtec solenoid its a D16z6 most likely. the pic is too smalll for me to see but i do see a green plug that looks like a vtec pressure switch by the dizzy.. thats a z6 valve cover for sure Vtec from the picture does not seem to be wired hence why its probbably running a p06

^ It's definitely got a vtec solenoid on it. You're assuming it's a complete engine, it wouldn't surprise me at all if it's a mini me of some sort. Why do I say this? It's definitely a Y8 intake manifold and the bottom end is definitely not a Y8 bottom end, see where I'm going with this? It could be a Y8 head and IM on a D15B7/D15B8/D15B2 block, or a Complete Z6 with a Y8 IM, or a Y8 head and IM on a Z6/A6 bottom end.

If I had to guess and make assumptions though I'd say it's a Z6 with a Y8 IM, based mostly on the driver's side engine mount.

i say vtec probably isnt wired because the plug is grey and would cover up most of that green plug and it looks to be fully exposed... he is right most z6's had that aluminum mount on the drivers side....

'92 - '95 Civics and '94 - '01 Integras had a matching green plug on the harness. '96 - '00 Civics used a grey plug. Accords and Preludes used a couple of those green plugs, one for the vtec pressure switch and one for the power steering pressure switch. The pic is small enough and blurry enough that I can't tell if it's plugged in or not, if it is they definitely used a green plug though.
