Hello everyone. Over the past couple months my 2006 Honda Accord will randomly Surge forward a number of times while accelerating. It is almost as if I was hitting the gas and then letting go over and over. It doesn't do this every time, just randomly and in mainly 1st and 2nd gear.

I read through some forums, got all new coil packs(because I thought that was the problem) and cleaned out the EGR Valve(using carburetor cleaner, a screw driver and a tooth brush) and also my throttle body(using throttle body cleaner).

I still have a feeling it has to do with my EGR valve. Maybe it is so clogged it can't be cleaned. Anyone have suggestion? Thank you I appreciate it!

 

Does anyone know if this should throw a code? No code is showing on mine right now. Thats why I was thinking it might just be dirty.

When was your last tune-up? replace your spark plug wire + spark plugs, and you should be ok again.

 

The car has brand new Coil Packs, Spark plugs, pcv valve and a air filter. Has anyone ever purchased new spark plugs that are bad?


Also is there any chance that my clutch is slipping? It doesnt do it every time but I typically get a surging when I 1st shift into 1st or 2nd gear.

 

Alright so now for the 1st time while driving from a gas station the car threw a code of: P2138

When I looked it up it is the Accelerator Petal Position Sensor. Pep Boys says it is either an issue with the sensor or with the actual Throttle Body. Any thoughts?

 

It is the position sensor...on the throttle body. Honda requires you buy the entire throttle body, if you purchase it from a dealership.

 

The code is for the APP Sensor that is separate so I am going to replace that and hopefully it fixes everything.
