Replacing entire Distributor /Timing
Agree, Yes you will need to set the base timing and that will require a timing gun to set it.
That being said, you do not need to touch anything related to the crank and camshaft timing. Unless you removed the timing belt or have suspicions that the belt may have jumped a tooth.
