Planning out a turbo b18c1 build.
How's it going guys? New to this forum but not Honda, and while doing all my research it's getting troubling siphoning through all the bs lol. I'm posting from mobile so excuse any weird formatting issues!
Looking to get a b18c1 to build for turbo and put in my hatch. This is gonna be a street car but not daily, and occasional autoX maybe. Would like to have it at ~400whp on e85. I'm mostly going to be buying from go-auto/inline four, for a lot of the parts since they have a lot of what I need if not all, but I'll take suggestions on other sources.
List of what I'm pretty sure I want:
Go-auto mini ram manifold
Go-auto downpipe
Tial bov and wastegate (unsure of spring weight)
Walboro 450 e85 fuel pump
Go-Auto oil drain and return lines
Moroso oil pan
81.5mm cp Pistons (unsure of compression)
Eagle rods
Acl bearing set
Things I'm unsure on:
Injector size, I know e85 takes around 30% more fuel so if my math is correct around 1300cc would do the trick when calculated at around 475hp. Correct me if wrong.
Turbo choices can be daunting. I know I want something with good spool in the lower/mid range so I'll have available power on the street. And I for sure want a Garrett unit. Was looking at this one GO-AUTOWORKs Garrett T3/T4 60 trim
Tuning would be dependent on the tuner and their comfort. If someone could recommend a place in Illinois with experience with Honda and e85 that'd be awesome!
At this power level is it advised to get better axles? I probably will for piece of mind, but I figure I'd ask while we're here.
Does wastegate spring matter if I get boost controller? 10:1 or 9:1 compression on Pistons?
As far as my transmission I was thinking gsr with ls 5th gear for the trips to meets on interstate. Unsure of what final drive is, need more reading.
Good supporting suspension mods? I need to read up on more of that as well but again I'd figure I'd ask while I'm at it.
Thanks to everyone who chimes in, in advance. Let me know if I was too vague on anything and I can clarify more.

You dont need axles, until much higher HP level, wastegate spring does matter as it sets the minimum boost you can run, and I would skip the moroso pan
I think you need more reading this stuff has been asked soo many times

I'm sure it has but I wanted answers relative to my setup and opinions in case I missed something. I've gone through the majority of the faq and try searching on here but honestly the search function sucks.
1. Injector size seems correct at ~1300cc. My rough math is 7.8*475=3705cc total / 4 injectors = 925cc ish on the low end.
2. Hunter Turbocharger or Silver Surfer T04B Turbocharger would be my personal choice.
3. Which EMS are you running? I didnt see that outlined anywhere. Since you're in IL, you have options around Chicago and/or Indy. Here is a list of tuners by state https://honda-tech.com/forced-induct...ry%2A-2349805/
4. Axles aren't required. Preload correctly if/when you launch it and you'll be fine.
5. Wastegate spring matters even with a boost controller because you can only turn it down as low as the wastegate spring pressure. If you have an 8psi spring, you can run as low as 8psi, but no lower. For this reason, i wouldnt start off with a 1bar spring. Also, the rule of thumb is that a manual boost controller can only reliably double the WG spring pressure. I'd start with 8ish psi and maybe buy another spring later on if you have to. Some Tial kits will come with more than 1 spring from the factory...i had a MVS 46mm that had a whole assortment of stuff with it...
6. Compression - since you're running e85, go higher. I built an LS/VTEC for boost back in '08 and went with 9.8:1 comp on pump gas, then switched to E85. Fast forward to now - tuning is way better and e85 isn't some closet conspiracy theory anymore. I'd honestly advice 11:1, some would tell you higher yet. No lower than 10:1 though srsly

Awesome thanks. I'll hold out to see if anyone else chimes in of course but we are on the right path here.

I will look into these along with any other suggestions. Hopefully Shodan appears with his vast knowledge lol.

I hadn't picked one because I wanted to choose a good tuner and use something they'd be comfortable with. Leaning to Hondata though.

Alright sounds good thank you.

alright that makes sense thank you very much.
