Universal Oil Cooler Question
B16 rebuild with turbo still in progress. Got a 19 row universal oil cooler with oil relocation kit, the only other setup I came across the guy kept his stock oil cooler when fitting his kit.
Do you guys recommend running both or getting rid of the stock oil cooler?

Re: Universal Oil Cooler Question
stock cooler is more of an exchanger, you willl not need either one but I would take the exchanger over the aftermarket unit

Re: Universal Oil Cooler Question
Depending on what you will be doing with the car I would run the aftermarket cooler.
I never understand or support these theories from random people on here saying you don't need this or that. for example the oil squirters on the pistons. I believe anything that makes your engine last longer is a necessary part, and oil coolers are one of those items.

Re: Universal Oil Cooler Question
1) Make sure you have one with an internal oil thermostat
2) make sure the oil cooler is has inlet / outlet facing UP or 90* side ONLY. Do not invert the cooler.
3) do not have the oil cooler HIGHER than the oil filter itself. You'll cause a cavitation in the oil and possibly drop too much oil pressure at idle.
4) Try as much as possible to have a good independent air source. No need for fans attached to the cooler in most setups.
Use the oil cooler only for the type of racing you need. Not really needed for a street car, but nice to have anyway.
