Icon4 F23A1 F23A5 Mix up

Hello.

I have an 1998 2.3 F23A1 VTEC Accord (Automatic). The engine is worn out, so i bought a used 1998 2.3 F23A5 NON-VTEC Engine (Manual). I want to mix up what i need, wich is mostly the engine block and maybe the camshaft. I have every part of the 2.3 VTEC F23A1 Engine, even the VTEC selenoide and valve cover.

I wanted to know if i can make this, and what should i change.
I've heard that the pistons are different since the compression is different.
I have the ECU from the F23A1 Engine and everything.

Thanks a lot.

The bottom half is exactly the same! The head and valve train is the only thing that is different between these two engines.

And the Non VTEC block uses a brass oil control orifice located in the block surface between the #2 & #3 cylinders. you will have to remove this in order to run a VTEC head on the Non VTEC block.

If you want to keep it VTEC you will need a complete VTEC head. The camshaft from the Non VTEC will not work in the VTEC head.

If you want to swap in the Non VTEC engine and trans you can swap out the VTEC ECU for the Non VTEC ECU and call it a day. if you want to keep it automatic you will need an ECU for an automatic F23A5 Accord.
