I have a sohc vtec motor in 96 civic. has a rod knock. can i replace this with a non vtec motor? is the block the same? thanks

You wanting to put a whole non vtec engine in or put a non vtec block under your vtec head? You can put a non vtec engine in as lons as it is obd2, and you will need the corresponding non vtec ecu if you don't want a cel. Or.... you can get the non vtec block, and put your head on that, just remove the oil control jet, new headgasket, and i think you have to change the timing belt to the y8 one, but not 100% sure on that.
