I bought an itr swap and the engine and tranny were painted very poorly. No prep and bad taping from previous owner so paint everywhere..even some in exhaust manifold ports.. how can i clean it off what should i use?
I don't know what it will do to the hoses, and I don't know how you plan to apply and clean off this stuff. But, it absolutely destroys paint... And gloves, and your hands, just everything. Be very careful with it, read the label. Should be very easy to obtain; Walmart, Autozone, etc...
Silver shouldn't be any problem to get off, and should leave no trace behind. Mine had a heavy layer of red under and decent layer of silver. Even after one application you could see the original block following the directions on the can of course. I completely disassembled mine, and repainted afterward, but this first picture should at least give you an understanding of the Aircraft remover's strength. You can see in the second picture red stain remained on my block, so I repainted.

Wow that stuff works great. pnly problem is I was not planning on taking the whole engine apart.. and not sure how I would apply it without removing everything.. I wish buddy would have done a better job of prep and taping before just painting. Even if he had cleaned it before hand it would look better then it does
Man that sucks. If you're not planning on a full tear-down it's gonna be a major pain to remove that paint. You may want to try your luck with a good pressure washer (of course covering up any sensitive ports or bits you don't want to subject to high pressure). If buddy used a cheap spray paint it might just blast off, though it's unlikely you'll make a much progress.
