Semi built LS-V for turbo
Right now I have a full stock b18/LS, and have a b16 head to add on later. Going to go turbo, and before that way comes, I want my motor to be semi built. I understand how blocks can be bored, resleeved, stronger, etc. but don't quite get which each purpose if for and what is better for what. Not asking for answers but asking for opinions and somewhere to learn more about this. But just want to know what's a good route for the block for when the times comes to turbo and add the V-head. Don't know if hitting the max bore is best for boost, or if making it as strong as you can.
Basically, replacing internal bottom end parts are more for adding strength rather than adding HP.
Your ultimate goals will determine how strong you need to build the block...Luckily for us, the limits of stock Honda blocks have been pretty much found when the whole "Honda scene" blew up back in the early 2000s.
Our cranks are forged and are very strong. No need to ever replace unless you're wanting more displacement. Stock Honda cranks have been pushed to over 1000 HP.
The stock cast pistons can hold quite a bit of power, but can be damaged easier than a forged piston. The same with stock connecting rods.
Sleeving is when you want to go bigger on the bore than what the factory block will allow. I would not go to max bore right off the bat especially if your going to go turbo.
If the block ever gets damaged and your at max bore, you might just have to trash that block. If you have a little room to bore, you could potentially reuse that very expensive sleeved block.
