06 civic lx starter replacement
Just finished up the starter replacement on my 06 lx and I gotta say, what kind of idiot thought of that location for that starter ? He should be slapped.
I wounder up crossthreading the threads for the top bolt so I just left it off and it's holding well from just the bottom bolt. I'm gonna get another bolt and if that doesn't go in I'm going to have to shim it with some washers because I can get about 3 threads in. Why couldn't it just be on top like my accord. I was going in from the passenger side wheel well area with a 1/2 inch ratchet and a universal joint and all was going well and I didn't even realize I was crossthreading it. For anyone doing this, just make sure to only use your hands to start threading it cause you won't realize you are crossthreading until it's too late.
I did pull the exhaust pipe and you basically have to do that in order to get the starter to drop down so you can remove it completely. I didn't use any new exhaust flange gaskets like I probably should have.
Starter went out at only 100k but it's an automatic and Mistuba's aren't as reliable as Densos.

I was just looking at mine the other day when I was doing an oil change and thinking to myself, "what a Pita this going to be once it goes"..lol
Its acutally not that bad if you remove the axle. Mind you I do them on a life but if you pull the axle get the pain in the *** knock sensor undone. Long extension with a swivel 14 and the top is out. Takes me maybe 20 min taking my time. But I do agree being out front would have been nicer
