Icon4 Burning lots of oil!!

Hey everyone!

So I have a SiR (B16a2) swap in my car and I know B series motors are known for burning a bit of oil but mine is burning like no tomorrow. I'd have to top up oil once every 3 to 6 days depending how I drive.

Motor is bone stock just a cold air and Yonaka headers. I get a lot of blue/grey smoke from the exhaust....like a lot... when vtec kicks I smoke out who ever is behind me at the time. I have no oil leaks anywhere. No loss in power just burns like crazy.

I get like this black dust/sluge that comes out my exhaust every time i rev after i wash my car or even just randomly, i know it oil but i don't know why is doing that.

My first thought is rings, or valve seals. Just wanted to hear what everyone thoughts on this would be. Thanks!

It doesn't particularly matter what the exact cause is, the motor needs a full rebuild. If you want to narrow it down, do a dry compression test, then follow that up with a wet compression test, and post both sets of numbers.

Put air pressure into the combustion chamber. Listen for air in the valve train and in the oil pan. Its either the rings or the valve guides (not just the valve seals). Probably both

One or the other or both.

I don't believe in and have never used a mechanic in a can. I am not condoning this for anything other than a very last option before a rebuild:

1) Replace PCV valve first (if needed) Should rattle while shaking it in your hand.. if not, replace with OEM.
2) Read and follow this (at your discretion): http://www.mikebentley.com/oilburn.htm
3) Another read: http://forums.automotive.com/70/7607...e-oil-burning/
3) Use conventional 40w oil (non-synthetic)
