em1 losing oil fast and sluggish.
vehicle: 1999 honda civic sir
engine: b16a2
mileage: +-190,000km or roughly 120,000m
problem: The car goes through a quart of oil every 2 weeks and if its driven for longer periods of time it just chews through it. There is no oil in the coolant. I dont have any leaks and thers no blue smoke coming from the exhaust. this is driving me crazy im hoping its the valve seals and i can just swap heads but if its the rings its gonna be a bigger problem. Also it seems that it lacks power when warm like ill step on it and it just feels tired. Any input is appreciated guys.

You might want to compression test the cylinders and do a leak down test.
Any chance you are spilling oil only while driving on the road?

I dont think its spilling when driving casue id think it would leave residue on somehting. Could be rings, im hoping not but if the oil ring is bad on the pistons the compression is still gonna be the same due to the other rings??? is there any way to check ur valve seals or no?

Re: em1 losing oil fast and sluggish.
well the easist thing to do is check ur compression that way if its leaking compression then you know one of ur rings is ****ed....and ive never check a valve seal so i cant answer that bro

yeah haha i guess its a 50/50 shot and if i can check the rings that eather proves or eliminates them so ill know eather way with the comp test. ill try that i hope its all good, they should be around 150psi or so?

Re: em1 losing oil fast and sluggish.
Well, when does your car emit blue smoke?
During hard accerlation?
Or when you're coming off acceleration and letting go of the gas?
----------
During hard acceleration - Piston ring
When you let off the gas - Valve seal
--------
There could be other variables, but those are the two most dominate ones of which cause that problem. Let us know when you run the test.

Oh and you do the compression test per cylinder, so the compression of the other cylinders necessarily would not effect the compression of another.

Dude I feel ya.. I have same prob I took mine to mechanic...apparently I am having a "blowback" on one of the cylinders. I believe it's a bad ring or whatnot. But yea my car burns off oil alot and I'm having to fill up the same as you, and car is very sluggish especially in the high end =(. My mechanic told me as long as I keep feeding it oil i'll be ok but not sure how long you've been doing your car but buying quarts of oil adds up =(. My mechanic recommends to rebuild bottom or get a new bottom end =(. Hope this helps
