The conventional oil used in those motors will cause a coking of the oil control rings, and will eat oil under high speed, a good compression test will verify that. If it is more of a whitish smoke it could be leaking from the exhaust valve guides. (take a drop of oil and put it on your hot header and tell me it doesn't burn up white, blued smoke indicates oil that is combusted.)
Some of those cars may never have seen an oil change, which will only make things worse of course, a good synthetic motor oil will help break down the coking, as it did for my car after running it for around 8,000, and now no more blue.
You also must remember that at 8000rpm, the oil jets are putting a lot of oil on the piston, and some will squeak by whether we like it or not.

lies...
get a quality oil flush (i suggest JB aka Justice Brothers. Any quality shop will most likely carry it like we do) run it for about 700 miles, and drain the oil. then swap over to Amsoil.
Best stuff out, and cheaper in the long run. change the filter every 5,000 miles, and change the oil every 20,000. Can't beat it!
But as far as swapping over to a full synthetic, just change the oil next with synthetic. a quality synthetic like Amsoil or Mobile1 will blend with whatever is left in the crankcase. So it won't cause any trouble.
