Ok so last night I decided to wash my engine bay in my 96 gsr that I bought last week
I covered the dizzy and proceeded to degrease the **** out of everything
After I was done I started the car and drove it back up to the garage
Then I completely dried everything with a air hose, I pulled all the spark plug wires and dizzy caps and blew them out
Pulled the spark plugs and blew out the sockets and blew out the alternator
This morning I get in to go to work and the car won't go over 2000rpms
I step on the throttle and it goes to 2k then back to 1k even if I hold the pedal to the floor the Rpms just keep fluctuating between 1k and 2k I can't even drive it around to try and get it warmed up.
So I pulled the dizzy cap and blew it out checked all the fuses and pulled the alternator and I am going to go have it tested
Please help!!! ASAP I need to go to work tomorrow I can't miss two days in a row
Is there a throttle position sensor or fuel map sensor or mass air flow sensor somewhere that I could have gotten water in?? Help help help 😭😭😭
1996 Acura integra gsr
Swapped b20b1 non vtec from 97 crv
it's highly unlikely you got water inside the actual tps or MAP but you might have it in the plug undo the plugs and dry them out both are on the throttle body. Is there any chance you can get another distributor to "try" even, it's most likely that than anything else even if you covered it you'd be surprised.
Ok well I pulled the distributer and wires and have them sitting in the sun and I pulled the spark plugs
Sprayed brake cleaner in the bottom of the sockets to try and evaporate any moisture in the bottom got new plugs
Sounds like your in limp mode. Any check engine light? check all your plugs like ect sensor under the distributor it may have got pulled out or loose, Try and unplug the ecu for 5 mins and plug it back in to reset the ecu and clear the limp mode cell. Or unplug the battery it should do the same.
OK so I ended up going in buying a brand-new distributor and alternator and all new spark plugs and put it all back together it still wouldn't run . So I decided I was gonna let it air out for couple more hours what a waste of time.
So I pull out the throttle position sensor on the back of the throttlebody it was soaked took it, completely dried it cleaned it with sensor cleaner and put it back in. Car runs perfectly fine now
May want to get a new gasket for the tps that shouldn't happen I've powerwashed tons of bays from my truck to tegg never had any re-start issues. Glad you found it but sucks you bought all that new stuff tho.
