Default 97 HX overheating

So I've had this HX for about 6years now and never had any issues. its my commuter car and nothing more than that. up until about two weeks ago everything was fine and then it started to over heat at a stand still. so i thought it was a bad thermostat and swapped it out, well that didn't help.

I finally noticed the radiator fan is not turning one duhh. so i jumped the plug of the fan switch and the fan kicked on. Went and bought a new switch and low and behold fan kicked on at 207 like it should. worked fine for about 130miles then the problem came back. again fan not working and car overheating to 230 according to scan gauge 2. Went out and did a warranty replacement on the switch. Got home installed and bleed the system let it warmed up and fan working again.

another 180 miles or so and the problem came back, fan now kicking on. So i either have terrible luck and got two faulty switches or something is making them go bad. So is it even remotely possible that something is shorting out these switches? or where can i start to figure this out? car only over heats at stand still and not at highway speeds or city driving. No loose of fluids either. fan works with new switch then they stop working.

begin to check the wiring of the sensor and the cooling fan. At this age, who knows how much it might have deteriorated. You could be getting junk quality switches. Have you tested the switches to make sure they are working properly instead of throwing parts at it? It's possible to get two bad switches, the aftermarket is getting very sloppy lately. (just went through 3 bad distributors! I tested them before putting them in! ridiculous cheap quality out there).. hope that helps..

aftermarket temp switches and thermostats are trash and should never ever be used.

I do all my work and I'm not new to cars. my other cars include and Evo 9 and GSX eclipse. This just has me stumped right now. Ive done the timing belt and water pump somewhere last year can't recall exactly. Ive also replaced the radiator around that time, the only thing i have not touched is the radiator cap. because it came with the eBay radiator.

Also, i have not tested the resistance on the switches due to lack of a tester. i just went out and bought the switch since it was not to expensive. Does the other temp switch by the front of engine on the head affect the fan switch turning on? Gauge on dash shows car getting hot and so does the scan gauge. ill try and go buy a tester and check stuff out more in detail.

not sure why my post don't get posted but I do all my maintenance and timing belt was done alone with new water pump last year by me. Radiator was replaced with eBay unit because the original cracked.

I have not tested the resistance on the switch because i don't have a tester. but what else could cause the fan not to turn on when the dash gauge and scan gauge 2 both show the car over heating temps in the 220+? does the sensor on the front of engine on the head have any play in this?
