97 Del Sol SI SMELLS LIKE GAS BADDD
I just purchased a 1997 Del Sol Si that was converted from auto to manual.
Has a D16Y8 motor.
Here is the main issue: smells like gas almost all the time. I've unplugged one injector at a time and all seem to be functioning well. I've also tested the injector harness plugs with a multimeter and they are within range the best I can tell. Any ideas? Car is getting poor gas mileage and sometimes misfires/sputters/idle roams when idling. I have thought maybe the Intake Air Valve thingy-bobber....but would that cause me to smell gas even when im not idling??? also, i am not sure how to test it. It smells bad enough that driving the car longer than 5 minutes gives me a headache.
also, the vehicle is still running a automatic ecu, which throws an automatic transaxle ECU code. This troubles me, should i be concerned? Do i need to make it a priority to buy a manual ECU?
The speedometer is off, seems to be 4-5 miles slower than what the speedo reeds.
Any input is greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't really worry about the auto ecu, it's one of those things that needs to be done but won't kill you if you don't do it for a while.
For the gas smell get under the car, inspect fuel tank and lines. If you smell it, it's coming from somewhere. You said you smell it in the cabin? Check your charcoal canister also.

i had this when my plug wires were buying the farm. turns out they dont last forever cuz $$.
grab some ngk or denso wires from fleabay as you will need them someday, maybe right now. 8)
spare richporter ignition coil for $20 couldnt hurt either as they all bite the big one in 3-5 years.
check of mechanical timing and valve lash cant hurt either...
