I own and love two Del Sols. My '94 (my driver) is an automatic with 130k and has always run fine. Recently, half way to town, it stopped engaging in any gear. Trans did not overheat, fluid was not burned. Shut car off for a few minutes, transmission corrected itself, and I was able then to proceed to local garage. I have had another tranny installed, new ECU, new TPS, but the car will automatically shift from first to second okay but no further without running it up to 3,000 r.p.m. and punching the throttle with my foot. Reverse has always been fine. Everything that could go wrong has been replaced. I now have a great Del Sol Automatic that needs all sorts of manipulation to get past 2nd gear. Help!

I live on a remote mountain top in the Appalachians of North Georgia. Honda dealers and folks wth any degree of Honda "know-how" are virtually non-existent in these parts. I own two Del Sol SI's one with 130k (my driver) and one with approx. 45k my garage queen; both bright red, both automatics, one is a '93 and the other a '95. I am 76 years young, retired, a local writer, and a Honda afficionado. As a young man, I spent several years rebuilding and restoring VW Things, but in 1993 I leased a new Del Sol and fell in love. The simplicity of Honda engineering, fuel economy, and the low cost of ownership quickly brought me into the world of water-cooled technology and I have never looked back. At least, until I ran into my recent dilemma with my 95 Del Sol. I am pleased to have found Honda-Tech.

I currently have no clue as to getting my '95 Del Sol S1 automatic to upshift from second to fourth without kicking down the accelerator (jolting it into the higher gear). I have replaced the TPS, ECU, Transmission, but to no avail. Engine seems to run fine, reverse is fine, ????? Any ideas? Gotta be something simple!
