94 del sol, 5 speed, with rough shifting
my 94 del sol, with 89K miles, has all of a sudden decided to shift horribly. A few days ago I could not get into ANY gear unless i slammed it in, i had to do this just to get home. I was told by the mechanic that my gear oil, which is really 10W-30, he beleives was never replaced at 50K, i got the car at about 55K, one owner before. He drained my fliuds a refilled and said it should get better. Now i can shift, but i am in 5th gear by 40mph, shifting at 3K RPMs is the only way to not have ti grind as bad. I also cannot downshift but once in a great moon. This was a sudden thing, when it started on Monday. I have driven it for 30K miles with no issues
The mechanic resommend it may be my Synchronizers, but advised he does not work on transmissions and wouldnt give me any more information.
I would love to "save" this car, what can I do? I was told it doesnt have an ECU so no diagnostic can be run.
Any questions please feel free to ask and thank you in advance

Check to see if you have low tranny fluid or try bleeding the clutch maybe the fluid is dirty and needs to be flushed out.

Considering this was sudden I doubt it's syncros. The tranny fluid not being changed at 50k doesn't matter. You know how many Hondas run for 200k+ and never touch the tranny fluid?
My guess is going to be your clutch. My Prelude popped a spring on the clutch and it was a pain to drive. With the car off see if you can shift into any gear fine. Then start it up and try to shift and see if it has problems. If you can shift into gear fine when off and not when running I bet it's your clutch.

soo if theres no ecu how is the car running? he obviously does not know what hes talking about. start doing these things by yourself and save yourself money. trans fluid change with honda mtf, bleed the clutch. look it up theres diy for everything hondas are easy to work on.
