Default will a 5858 .63ar t3 boost creep with top mount?

Hey HT,

I just bought a Sheepey built topmount manifold and I was planning on using a 6765 PTE turbo. I've been hearing a lot of things about boost creep using larger turbos and topmount manis that only have a single 45mm wastegate. Will going to a smaller/more streetable turbo solve the issue?

thats a massive turbo... what are you power goals? If running very high boost, 45mm should be fine. if low boost, probably no bueno.

Was going for 700whp or more, but now 550-600whp. It was making 430whp with the 57 trim and a ramhorn kit when I pulled everything out. The car weighs less than 1800lbs so it 550whp or more should be enough.

I would like to run lower boost in 1st/2nd for traction which is why I'm worried about possibly having bad creep problems.

You can run lower boost pressures, just not too low on the larger turbocharger. You're pushing a 5858 to its limit at that size.

Also, too look at how timing is being used. If used too conservatively, that higher EGT and rich condition can actually be a factor in your boost creep issue.

Using a Single 45 wastegate can be just fine, depending upon how it is mounted.

You could have easily done your powergoal with the "Ramhorn" vs. a Topmount, but I understand younger people having that need to show it all off.

I'm not young or blingy. I wanted a top mount because I like how they're easier for turbo removal and wanted to run the lightest most efficient exhaust (up-pipe).

I haven't even got to use the topmount/6765 combo yet (it's sitting in my garage). I just did some searching on here and Google and it seems to be a common problem with my style topmount.

I'd like the ability to run around 400whp or so for the lower gears and make 550-600whp plus up top.

My apologies if I offended you. Statistics have shown for many honda users under 26 years of age or younger tend to use Topmounts for that purpose, and not for the characteristics that they are designed for.

400whp in "lower gears" is still a tough sell, but can still be done with a single 45mm-50mm gate depending upon the turbocharger used. You may have to change tuning tactics for your boost control.
