Which Swap is Best for Me

Which Swap is Best for Me
Hey guys I've been researching a lot lately and asking questions in forums (which I've noticed is a huge way to get bashed on lol) and I am absolutely stumped which swap to do. With today's age of the honda world everything has been tried and every swap seems to have pros and cons. I just can't think of which one to go for,
My car- I haven't purchase it yet but it will be an Integra Ls most likely a 97
Goals- I really want a reliable 300 hp engine. The RELIABILITY part is huge, as in I don't want an engine that I have to always worry about, and I will have a limited budget so basically I'm looking for a super reliable, decently cheap swap.
This is just a couple of ideas I've had and this is some info I've came across and or taken from post(my knowledge might be wrong)? Just let me know
B18B Turbo
Pros- my car will already have had a b18b in it so the swap will be pretty straight foreword, and there are lots of people who had done this to help me
Cons- a lot of people say the b18b is just an unreliable engine to try to boost(some diss agree) and I have not be able to find sure numbers for overall cost for this setup
B18C1 Turbo
Pros- reliable stock form
Cons- I've heard when applying boost a ton of work needs to be done to stay reliable(I won't have the money)
LS-Vtec
Pros- I've heard this is the cheapest route to go for power
Cons- I've also heard this is extremely unreliable unless you have big bucks
K20
Pros- super reliable and responds very well to upgrades
Cons- super expensive
Like I said this info may be wrong, so please tell me the pros and cons of each and also tell me some other swaps to look into, and also a estimated price if u can! I may be posting this in different forums to gain a larger audience and get more knowledge so don't get pissed about me spamming lol, thanks in advance guys!

Re: Which Swap is Best for Me
For only 300whp no need to complicate things. Just boost the motor that comes in your integra. As long as it healthy 300whp is reliable on stock internals with a proper turbo setup and the most important part a good TUNE.

Thanks dude, for a DD I wouldn't need anymore hp. and would it be smart or wasted to sleeve and upgrade internals to make it last even longer, that way if I ever did feel like making more power I could? Or is that just a waste of money, thanks man

Just compression test it and see if it's good, you can run 300 on stock internals as long as the engine is healthy and you do all your maintenance first. I would compression test it before you buy it really, that's a given for any car you buy. You don't need to sleeve the block until 500+ whp as far as I know

Just start with the stock internal engine and see how you like the 300whp range. You can always build a block on the side while your stock one is still going for when you want more power. It's already gonna be pretty expensive for all the turbo parts, clutch, fuel system upgrade, tuning hardware, and paying a competent tuner for a tune.

Re: Which Swap is Best for Me
Lol did you even do research ? Cause you posted a couple days ago if that. About a budget b18c turbo build . Do some research check the stock sleeve Ls turbo build . Get quality parts and a healthy engine and if you want it safe go with e85 . You should reach 300 hp no problem . I boosted a stock Ls with a quality kit I put together made 286hp . I wished I had a gsr to boost instead though . Also have you owned a 300 hp civic or integra ? It's a low 12 or high 11second car in the quarter mile . Take it easy and work your way up

Re: Which Swap is Best for Me
Also your going into the service soon will you have time for the car ? I spent about 3500 in parts just to boost my motor

Re: Which Swap is Best for Me
The more research I do the more downsides I see to a lot of these builds, but the turbo ls is looking promising. And this is also a swap I didn't even consider when I first started thinking about this build. And I believe I will have some time to buy a new engine and build over my 4 years, but I will find out for sure

Re: Which Swap is Best for Me
why dont you just buy parts in the meantime and drive your stock car? believe me it's gonna be less stressful than having a broken car and no money / tools
