1999 honda prelude base CV axle question
ok I have a 1999 honda prelude base model. has the f20B and switching it all over from auto to manual. the transmission i have is out of a 2000 honda prelude. I know my intermediate shaft wont work and I cant find any intermediat shafts that are reasonably priced. so mu question is this....
would I be able to use a CV axle out of a honda accord? What problems would it cause being a solid cv axle. i am thinking about getting a driver side cv axle and do a test fit when i get the motor and transmission back into the car.

Well you are taking the long way around this issue, you will have to buy the 5 speed half shaft. I don't believe the longer accord axle will fit your prelude without binding or clearance issues.

check car-part, you'll have to pay shipping unless you find one close by.

yall clearly can not read. I say that because yall clearly are not answering my question. on car-part is 75-100 and like I stated. again im not spending that much for a single shaft. I spent all my money on everything else and don't have the 100$ plus shipping for a single shaft. and since no one is answering my question and side stepping. someone close this thing. and if possible. delete my account. I don't know why im even on here because I haven't gotten help from anyone or even the search button on here.

Oh we read just fine what you were saying and honestly you cant read what we are saying to you. You WILL have to buy the half shaft from a manual h22 and put it in there is no way around it. Honestly we have all been in your shoes where we dont want to have to spend more on parts but in this case to make it driveable you need that shaft try either saving your money or get one super cheap some place like a wrecking yard or craigslist people part out ludes left and right all the time, just have to do a bit of searching.
now see that's what I wanted to see someone say or not say. thank you for finally answering my question I asked. that there is no choice but to buy the half shaft. so now that I know I have no choice I now know what to do.
dude i just paid $10 shipping for 4 used shocks with springs.
that $30 shaft should be no more than $50 with shipping.
for $80 you can get a new yonaka delivered to your door,
it's way beefier than oem.
unless you can find one on the cheap locally there arent many other options.

Is there an actual benefit to a beefier intermediate shaft? Especially considering dude doesn't have LSD, he said base model, so his driver side axle isn't even powered. Years ago I was driving around on a near broken half shaft axle on the driverside in my Prelude cuz I was saving up for new struts and wanted to do it all at once. Ended up being 3 months of driving on a busted axle, no issues.
And to be the third person to say this to the OP, yes, there is no way around it. Manual trannys are 3 piece axle design, no if and or buts.

my old halfshaft was toast by 320k but that took 20 years lol.
the real benefit is price, stealerships want $300-400 for one yikes.
$85 started to look real good after i saw that.

well I cant find a used half shaft aka intermediate shaft for under 80-100 with a ton of miles. im just going to put the automatic trans back in and give up on the swap. mods can close this thread.
You give up way to damn easy, look what tamboo posted up buy that Yonaka half shaft for $79 shipped brand new cant really beat that. And on top of that you will only have to purchase it one time.
yes seriously man you going to give up the 5spd swap just because you can't get an intermediate shaft.. for some reason my intermediate shaft, the end that has a little metal ring that protects a seal against the tranny bent backwards so I got one at pick n pull for $16. The bearing is still solid, You can have my old one for free it still works just fine. The only reason I replaced it is cuz I just did a clutch job and had the old one out already so why the hell not. The seal it was supposed to protect showed zero wear or leakage, so it works just fine.
So if it makes you finish your damn swap, you can have my old one for free. I'll even ship it COD. So u pay, what, $10?
