I was just wondering if there are any drivers side axle differences between years and models of preludes
A friend (with a 2000 base model prelude) and i just spent the few hours figuring this out, but he got an axle from autozone. we take the stock busted one out. and then go to put the new one in and the axle just moves around freely on the intermediate shaft in and out but it appears to go in all the way.. so after tinkering with the clip and not making any difference (expanding and squishing). we figure we will just put it back together and see what happens.. he starts to drive and the intermediate shaft is just spinning inside the axle hole... ok so we jack it up and it appears to be in all the way. so we loosen everything up and take the clip out completely and it doesnt go in any further WTF. but still feels loose.
we take it out and compare it to the stock one and it feels like the hole for the intermediate shaft on the new one is slightly larger than the old one. and we measued the depth to the bottom of the hole in the axle and the new one was 1 7/8" deep while the stock one was 1 5/8" deep.. interesting. We are taking it back tommorrow to see about getting another. on a side note the one we got from autozone had a metal dust ring for the intermediate shaft seal where as the stock honda one did not.
what are the differences between years/models and any clue what year/model i got?
