Default A/c question

While driving my a/c is cold but when at a stop it gets noticeably warmer. Not warm but not as cold as it is when I'm driving. Anyone have a solution for this?

Most cars are known for this. Actually, IMO, most GM vehicles have better a/c system capacity than most other brands, Buick included.

At stop, the only airflow through your condenser is what your fans are pulling through. This is a lot less flow than you get from cruising down the road at any meaningful speed. Reduced airflow means less heat removed, and warmer vent temperatures.

This is exacerbated by using R-134a in a car that wasn't designed for it. You didn't say what model you had but the 90-93 years originally used R-12. R-12 was more effective at removing heat and therefore used a smaller condenser. The condensers, now used with R-134a, are somewhat undersized.

It would be working checking that both of your fans are working when the a/c is running.

I have a 99 sedan V6 btw. Ok so right now I checked the fuse on my car (20) and it was good so I turned the car on checked to see if the condensor fan can on and it did so now I'm confused lol. I don't get why the air gets warm at a stop could I just need a simple refill of freon?

Only one fan came on?

BOTH fans should come on when the AC is on.....or better yet, BOTH FANS should run anytime the engine is running.

Well they both work but they don't come on at the same time. Before I replaced the water pump and my car was running hot it did come on when needed (rad fan). And yesterday when I turned the ac on and checked under the hood the condenser fan did come on but at a stop still blowing warm air. I even bought some ac pro to recharge it
And still blows warm at a stand still and cold while going highway speeds. So are they both supposed to turn on when I turn the ac on??

Yes, both fans should be on whenever the a/c is on.

The A/C will always be warmer at a stop compared to driving - the fans don't pull nearly as much air through the condenser as the airflow from driving - but having only a single fan will definitely make the problem worse.

Without knowing how much freon is in there, you may have overcharged it, this will also reduce the system performance. You really need to hook it up to a manifold set.

Small condenser on many Hondas. It's just how it is. I had the older (colder) AC fluid R12. My little civic condenser sucked. All new rings, both fans and no leaks. It had a B-series motor and things were fine when driving but mediocre when at a stop. Circulating the air inside cabin (instead of fresh air) kept it tolerable in CA heat but worse than my 4runner or the Wife's 2.4L '11 Accord.

It might be a good idea to have it checked. See if it holds pressure or if there is a leak.

Edit: when I put new rings in and refilled with R12, I found a guy on CL to fill up the system. He pressurized the system and had a gauge to check for loss of pressure (leaks) for almost an hour.

If R-134a is not tolerable, you could try something like Redtek 12a, never used it myself but I've heard good things. Just be warned that some shops won't touch your system if you use an alternate blend.

This particular blend claims to have a higher ignition point than R-134a so it should be safe from a flammability perspective.

They both come on just not similtaniously as I have been told on here there should. When I turn the ac on the ac fan comes on which I got out and looked for myself but the radiator fan doesn't. But before i replaced the water pump and my car was running hot I seen that the radiator fan comes on also. Any reason why they don't come on similtaniously?

Using test leads, unplug the connector for the radiator fan and apply direct battery to the connector to test the fan motor. It's possible it somehow burned out, or you got a wiring issue.
