My 200k mile del sol has recently started wandering at idle between around 800 and 1500 rpm. Its a regular up-down-up-down, and I *think* it goes away when the car is fully warmed (all my drives are short distance). This has happened before and was fixed by cleaning the IACV with some brake cleaner, but that didn't seem to work this time. What should I check next? Is there a better way to clean the IACV more thoroughly?

Check for vacuum leaks. What happens when you put your finger over the IACV hole in the throttle body?

 

Also check your coolant level. If its not full this can happen.

 

Actually you want to burp the coolant for bubbles. Bubbles in your coolant will do this.

 

Clean and adjust the FITV.
