Took a long break from Hondas, but I'm back in the game. This time I've got a '97 GS-R and I'm lovin' the B18C1 engine.

I noticed a loud hum/whine coming from the intake. Is this normal? My buddy has a '96 GS-R and it makes the same noise, so that would make me think "yes, it's normal" but I've never had a Honda engine make this noise (B16A2, B20B, a few D16s, etc). Any idea what causes it?

yes completely normal

 

Its the sound of the air coming in from that big *** oem filter lol sounds fine. With the cap on the filter box it should be much more quite.

 

its the GSR specific sound to tell people that you about to crack vtec.
