Icon3 Fuel gauge gone mad

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone else has this issue. I have a 2007 Honda civic coupe. In the last few months my Fuel gauge has been acting crazy. Once in a while the fuel indicator goes backwards so it's empty on the right side and shows full on the left side. The empty part kind of indicates how much fuel I'm suppose to have. I have attached a picture for reference as it's hard to explain.
I was wondering if anyone has had such problem or knows what might be causing it. Also how much do you think fixing this issue may cost? I recently paid $700 to change 1 engine mount and hope to avoid more big costs if possible.

Thank you

That seems to be a cluster problem. Might need to replace it.

I've honestly never seen this problem before but something is up with the cluster!

Did this happen before the mount was replaced? Which engine mount was replaced? Maybe a ground wire?
The passenger side torque dampener ("dog bone") has a ground wire on it.

You can try a battery cable reset.

Also, see my post in this other thread of the two variations of the battery cable reset:

This other person had a similar problem like yours:

I'm actually having a similar issue where the very last bar on my fuel gauge is intermittently illuminated. Kind of frustrating when you're running low and you have no idea how much you have left.

I have this same issue and it doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason as to when it switches back and forth between the proper display and the reverse, as described above.

Hoping to see an easy fix pop up.

Also, I'm brand new, so thanks for having me!

Yes this happened before the engine mount was replaced.. It happens usually few minutes after I start driving and goes away by itself randomly..

Have you taken it back to honda or a mechanic to get checked yet? Curious what they'd say..

Have you by any chance figured out what the problem is? I'm having the same issue and am at a loss as to what to do. Thanks!

Hey guys, not resurrecting an old thread, but wanted to make sure the answer got in here for other folks that find it. It seems that the solder joints on the back of the LED display for the fuel gauge are the issue. Simply remove, resolder, reinstall and it seems to resolve the issue in most cases.

I agree: cold solder joints on the ribbon cable from the fuel gauge to the PCB are causing an intermittent current flow.

I've been having this exact issue. I've called Honda Service and they had NO idea and wanted to a diagnostic...lots of $$$. Is it possible to buy a new LED display or ...I have no idea where one would go to do this kind of repair.
