Default Speedometer issues

I searched the old post and couldn't get the right info, so here goes. I have a 93 delsol, d16z6 manual.car sat for 5 years before I bought it.the speedometer isn't working. At first the odometer worked but no speedometer. Now neither work. Tach and every thing else work fine.If I pull the vss out and put a drill on it it works, but you have to spin real fast.the gear in the trans looks fine and spins, what should I check?

What is it? The speedometer?

Is CEL code 17 thrown?

Is the drive link installed?

Yes has the drive link,is it magnetic activated?is it susposed to go up and down? Throws no codes, but the check engine light comes on after 5-10 minutes of driving.when you turn the car off and restart it the lights gone .

When CEL turns on, don't turn engine off and jump service connector.

If your RPM works but you don't have speed reading, it could just be your speed sensor.

Speedometer stared working,I think it was a issue with wires and a bad speedometer.now just a fuel problem.
