buy good parts and wait, I'd just go b-series such a waste you can get more power out of a mild turbo b-series then a turbo d-series. but if you must eagle rods/wiesco pistons clevite bearings are alas a budget friendly combo.

What are your goals for the build? If your just looking for a fun inexpensive daily, then just run 10lbs or less and a good tune on your stock block with some ARP head studs and Rod bolts. Stock compression is around 9.6:1, which is a good starting point for a mild street build and will allow you to have a bit of power outside of boost but still be able to easily/safely tune on pump gas.

If you want a fairly cheap build you can boost the hell out of. Vitara with custom length rods. Just built one and love it. Also have an all forged internal d16 but that's gonna cost ya

Boost means nothing without turbo size. Better question is how much power(hp,TQ) can they hold

13-15psi depending on turbo is gonna be only 220-260whp so not even close to pushing limits of either type I suggested.

The vitaras safely 420whp(note i said safely)and forged supertechs upwards of 600 but then you're looking at sleeves and race gas.

My forged supertech/eagle- 426whp stock sleeves, fully built head, ported, race gas, 60-1 26psi
My vitara/eagle- goin to dyno in 2weeks, built head, hoping for 360whp pump gas on 57trim turbonetics around 22-24psi

A healthy stock bottom end can handle that hp. Problem is its right at its limit. If I was you I'd either stay stock motor and tune for 210whp or build it and go for 350plus. Sounds to me like the stock motor @ 210 is smarter for you and a helluva lot cheaper. I built my original stock y7 turbo kit and tuned to 210whp. It had 208k miles when I turbod it and was healthy at 250k when I pulled her to build the motor. Let me if u want the entire turbo setup info from beginning to end I successfully used. It was fairly cheap and all new parts. Nothing used.

Step 1: Compression and leakdown test to check your motors health before you make a decision.

Haha. I'll pm u with it. I have a 05 Gli also with 332whp as my DD. I do love my civics too they just don't hook or ride as smooth as my jetta but I'm telling u this setup I send u is very reliable and affordable. Best part is nothing used either. **** I have about 1/3 of the parts in a Rubbermaid container u might be interested in.

That 210whp is kinda what I had in mind for my Z6.. Really in it to see how you take it. I've just been thinking about it haven't had any funds to do anything yet GoodLuck on the build

You can easily put a EG coupe or hatch chassis into the 12s and make 300whp cheaply and reliably with SOHC setups. D series were my first entry into the Honda world, and honestly my NA ~160whp build was all in all more expensive than my 300+whp turbo build. The all motor setup was fun, and it was very entertaining keeping stock motor bolt-on B16/B18 guys at bay with a little D16, but required a good bit of costly parts and machine work. My turbo build was under $2500. That included everything except the BOV and intercooler kit which I had given to me by a friend in exchange for a little work. All other parts for the engine and turbo build are included in that figure and concisted of:
D16z6 block, stock sleeves, 75.5mm bore, Vitara 10:1 Pistons, OEM Z6 crank, All OEM bearings/gaskets, stock Z6 head-self ported/polished, stock fuel rail, RC550s, Skunk2 Intake, 65mm TB, ARP head studs, finished off with a cheap CXRacing manifold and gate, GT2860 turbo and tuned on Hondata S100 at the time. Setup was an absolute blast in my 95 EX coupe (94 Si tranny) and was perfectly happy Sipping 93 octane pump gas with no issues. Daily street tune was good for around 240whp and the full tilt weekend/track tune was good for a tad over 300. The engine lasted me for 1.5 years and 10k miles, then I sold the car to a friend who beat on it for another 2 years before wrecking it. Over 30k miles that setup lasted with nothing but simple maintenance. I'm sure it would have gone a lot further with a driver that could navigate around trees without impact lol.

That's what I'm trying to get out of my 95 Coupe Ex mainly something reliable but also fun. Not planning on selling anytime soon so haven't really came up with a budget. Just got a new job soo my funds are coming slowly but surely haha

Forget about Vitara. Go read the FAQ Stickies here, as well as in FI. Do it once, do it right.

I'm looking to build a z6 on the side that I can swap sometime into my 95 ex coupe and tune. I just want a fun thing to drive in the freeway from time to time of I want to go fast and have something realiable. Also what turbo with inter cooler setups are legal and will pass smog here in Cali , if anyone knows the answer that. I've been searching but I can't find a straight answer.

Realistic answer: None that you're going to find. Now quit thread jacking. If you have questions, make your own thread.

There's nothing wrong with Vitara piston/eagle rod combo if all your shooting for is street #'s man. Why spend thousands of dollars when all you need is 250-300 reliably? If you want an all out race SOHC yea stay away from Vitaras, but you wouldn't be running a disco potato for that purpose either not the rest of the components I mentioned lol. If all your looking to do is make a fun, reliable street toy AND your on a budget, top of the line forged Pistons and stuff are 100% not a necessity or area I would even focus on.

I actually found the invoice from when I did that build rather easily. I paid $410 shipped for those Vitara Pistons, Custom length rods, ring set, and ARP hardware brand new. For a budget build you can't beat that man. Is it the "best" you can buy? Certainly not, but if your on a budget and only looking for moderate power, do you wanna spend $350 on some good Pistons, or $400 for basically an entire rotating assembly minus crank lol.
