Car chokes when I ask for more gas and smokes comes out
I have a 2002 Honda accord 2.3. For some reason when I want more power and I step on it the car chokes and smoke starts coming out of the muffler. When I stop and try to take off again it just doesn't go. It chokes. What can it be?
What color smoke?
Does your check engine light work? Is it on? Do you checked for any stored codes?
Back probe the MAP sensor and watch the voltage readout, if you have a vacuum pump that would be best. Turn the car to on, back probe the MAP and apply vacuum to the MAP, it should have a lineaer voltage change.
Back probe the TPS, it should have a linear voltage change.
What is the fuel pressure?
Does the car do this both when it is cold and hot?
Does your temp gauge function?
Pull your spark plugs and check.
Is your car an AT or MT?
If you leave it in 1st does the car still bog?

Yeah my check engine light went on like for 2 days then it turned off. It's automatic. It does it when it's cold or hot. Temperature gauge works.
What color smoke? If it's black smoke I would say your having an issue with losing spark.
When was the last time spark plugs/wires were checked or changed? Also, plug in and read those codes from what made the CEL come on for those few days. If the code thrown was for a sensor, that may likely be the culprit.

Yeah it's like black smoke. I have no idea. I just bought the car about 2 weeks ago. And it does it when it reaches 4,000 rpm. Yeah I would have to put it on the computer and see what codes come out. U think this can b y the car is killing so much gas 2?
Vtech engine? The vtech system malfunctioning can do this. Just an idea since I had a similar problem and it was the solenoid for the vtech system. Check your codes, if none are stored I'd say drive it and try to get the engine light on and check it right away. The light shuts off after a while when it doesn't detect a problem anymore.

Fuses are fine and I'm not all that worried about it. The car drives fine with the exception of my brake issue and a misfire that'll take about 5 minutes to diagnose and fix when I figure the brake thing out which to me is more important.
I guess it's possible but I don't have many problems often to begin with. It stores codes though, just not generally after the light goes out on it's own. I haven't let that happen in over a year though.
