Icon3 lag on take off

Hey again Honda Tech-ers

I uh... yeah.. back to that 91 Dx Hatch....

Some of you may remember an issue with 'lag' on take off that I brought up over a year ago... Some of you were up in the air about what it could be.. Well, it progressed from 'occasional' to 'frequent' to stalling out completely...

Took it to mechanic (I don't have tools or the know how..) for a diagnostic.. $150 later they told me the Timing was 'severely retarded' so I needed new belt and water pump... $450 later new pump, new timing belt, mechanic says it's 'timed perfectly' but the problem got WORSE... took it back.. Another $40 later for a new distributor cap (put a new one on October 2013, but it apparently was myseriously busted so they put a new one on..)

Now I'm back to the original problem, I'm out $640, and my mechanic tells me 'It drives fine for us, maybe your car is demonic and only hates you...." (Which is seriously making me think of filing a fraud lawsuit..)

So... I guess what I'm getting at is any ideas or suggestions? Friends who are somewhat wrench heads tell me check the plugs for fouling out from the timing issue, one has said perhaps it's the intake gasket, all I know is I need to get it running smooth in the next few weeks....

Any and all help is appreciated... THANK YOU!

Edit:

Here's a video of what it does when it's parked and I hit the gas that I took last month... at the very beginning you can hear it, and then a little bit here and there... it just misses here and there and occasionally sputters and tries stalling... It's not fun when yer stopped and push the gas to make a turn with a car 500 feet away coming at you and it stalls in the middle of the street...

Oh, and I forgot to mention that there's a lot of white smoke when it runs as well..

"Hi again..." is not an acceptable thread title. Please read the forum Rules sticky. Title edited.

A link to your original thread would be helpful because I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the majority of us don't know or remember your original thread and have no point of reference here

Sorry RonJ,

I'll look for it James!

EDIT: Apparently it wasn't a thread specifically about this problem.... it was about my axles when Oil Can Henry's tried telling me my drive axles were going out (those are fine btw!)

Several mentioned the TPS, but that was all checked in the diagnostic and they said it was fine...

Thanks again!

So my neighbor has a friend that's an ASE Master Mechanic, came took 10 minutes to look at it, sprayed ether into the air intake tube tried to start it NOTHING...

He says distributor, and likely that my timing belt was never the problem...

So apparently I'm out $150 for a diagnostic, $350 for timing belt & water pump, and $38 for a mysteriously broken distributor cap...

He also tells me the part was discontinued, and I have to get a re-manufactured one that'll cost around $250, plus it has to be re-timed....

use the internet and you can probably find a brand new distributor for less than $150.

You can buy brand new distributors for $75-$80 all day on eBay. Obviously Chinese and probably won't last you 10 years but they'll certainly be serviceable for you if you're on a budget. Spend about double that and you can get a good quality Rich Porter Technology unit. Bottom line there's no need to spend $250 for a distributor.

Thanks! Found one for $150 on Rock Auto... Gotta call a new (recommended) mechanic to find out how much labor to put it in will be.... plus I'll have to have it towed because when it does start it doesn't stay running for very long...
