Anyone know if there is any change in exhaust sound if the resonator after the cat if removed and a straight pipe is put there. Everything else is stock. It has a loud rattle inside the resonator. Just want to cut it out to save some $$

 

Are you sure it's that resonator? Did you take it apart and shake it to see if something is in there? I had a rattle and it was my cat, the honeycomb structure inside came loose! But if you take out a resonator, which cancels out sound, it will get louder. See if it's not just something in the pipe itself. Maybe it's just a bolt loose, or something else in the system.

 

I have a new cat with all new bolts. had a straight pipe before with a rattle also. I can knock on the resonator and hear it rattling inside.
