A 90 ex sedan came into pick n pull the other day, and im going to buy the knuckles. I have both sides off the car, i was able to get one uca off no problem by hittingthe balljoint with a pickle fork. The other upper ball joint wont come off!
Ive hammered it really hard and even used this ball joint seperator but it didnt work.
Need some help, dont want to buy the upper control arm.

 

Disconnect the 3 bolts for the upper control arm in the engine bay and drop the whole thing out of the car.
then you can beat the lights out of the UCA until it surrenders.

 

What 4drEF said. If a small hammer doesn't work grab a BIGGER hammer lol… When in doubt hammer it out!!

 

Got that upper ball joint out. Did it with a 3lb hammer lol. Heres a pic of the ex knuckles next to my lx knuckles.

 

You are having problems with trying to remove the ball joint because they are designed not to be removed and there is no replacement. Upper control/ball joint is sold as one piece.

 

You seem to have missed the reply right above yours.
That's the one where he finally broke the ball joint free from the steering knuckle.
He wasn't trying to remove the ball joint from the UCA.

not only are replacement balljoints readily available, but the ball joints are definitely removable. i sourced a set of UCA's that have removable balljoints specifically so that i can replace them.

not all of them can be removed, honda decided to weld the ball joints to the UCA for most years. otherwise they are held in with a c-clip.
