So I just bought a 98 civic ex, it had been sitting for almost a year through all kinds of weather and I'm trying to get everything back in proper order. Everything seems to be good but the one thing I'm unsure of is at lower speeds you can hear a grinding type noise from the rear end, it gets louder up until about 40 mph then its harder to hear. I pulled a rear tire and it doesn't spin very freely, it'll go with a little bit of a grinding noise and stop after 3/4 of a turn. Does it sound like the rear hubs need replaced or is there anything else I should be thinking of or checking? Thanks in advance!

 

sounds like a bad wheel bearing, luckily rears are very easy to replace.

Thanks for the advice, I'll pull the whole thing off tomorrow and see what else I can find out. If I do need to rebuild the caliper what all would I need for that? and should I get new rotors while I'm at it with them looking like that?

 

I pulled everything today, pads and calipers looked good, the bearings were good as well. The rotors on top of being extremely rusty looked slightly warped, changed both of the rear ones and everything sounds fine now! Thanks for helping me out, gave me a good idea where and what to look for
