Default 94 Civic VX tranny problem

94 Civic VX w/ 244k miles.

During first gear take off, it makes a grating sound (like a tire is rubbing against the fender liner). It happens for a couple thousand RPM and then suddenly stops. This also happens in 2nd and 3rd, but only a couple hundred RPM. It starts as soon as you shift in each gear.

First gear take off was initially easy, but seemed to get worse the more I drove it (I had to ride the clutch big time or else it would buck). The grating sound seemed to get worse with time too. Shifts were nice and smooth bt gears

Any ideas on what may be wrong? Thanks.

Thanks

I know what your problem is....
Its the first ring gear around the differential were the axels connect to inside the transmission. Mine went out on a SI trans..
