Default honda rev limiter: fuel or ignition?

A friend of mine and I are arguing over whether the honda rev limiter is a fuel cutoff or an ignition cutoff. He's really really paranoid about hitting the rev limiter in his car on NOS (zex kit) because he thinks it's fuel cutoff but the ignition stays going. I think it's either both fuel and ignition or just ignition cutoff. Who is right?
Thanks

Good question...I remember hearing somewhere that it was a fuel cut, but I don't know for sure. Don't think I like the idea of a fuel cut without a corresponding ignition cut...seems like that would make things go dangerously lean at high rpm.

See that's what I think, it's a real bad idea to just cut fuel and not spark because of the leaning, especially when he's squeezing with his ZEX. It it going to be REALLY bad for him to bounce off the rev limiter then? I was thinking about buying this car from him but if it's being abused I'm thinking about it differently...

Yup it is the fuel and it is dangerous to run nitrous off the limiter because all of a sudden there is the same amount of nitrous with only a little fuel.... That = really lean.. I remember like 4 years ago, my friend did a burnout bouncing off the rev limiter with his nitrous on in his STOCK GSR/EK. This is what that happened... Internally stock B18C + 125 shot nitrous (with no tuning (stock ECU)) ='ed #'2 and 3 rods blown through the crankcase.. He was okay cuz he just dropped another GSR in later and didn't do a burnout with it on again. Anyways Have fun!!

Also my friend has nitrous on his D16Z6 in his EG, it's a setup very similar to mistabone. We never got around to it but we were just going to hook up an RPM activated switch to break the TPS signal going to the ZEX module at a certain RPM. So basically you just wouldn't have nitrous if you reved over 7000 but who's gonna be doing that with a stock single cam.

The rpm switch is a good idea for nitrous users...cut off the juice before the rev-limiter kicks in. Still, the motor is going to run lean at the limiter which can't be healthy. I wonder if Hondata can do an ignition-cut to go with the fuel-cut? Standalone systems (SDS, Motech) can I'm sure, but they're worth more than my car.

Of course, the simple answer is probably "Don't bounce off the rev-limiter", but that would be too easy! No challenge there!

MSD - ignition cut

could also get a "window switch" where the nitrous was only activated from xrpm to xxrpm

i noticed two distict limiters on both of my hondas, the 00si felt more like a ingnition limiter, the car would not bog at the limit, but bounce off of it rapidly. my current CRX si bogs as it hits the 7200RPMs. i don't know about the B16 engine, but the D16A6 is fuel cut.my Zs had ignition cut from the factory, with the it's distinct "RANG...ANG...ANG...ANG...ANG..ANG" sound stan*yes that took a while to type!*
