Default Difference between d15b vtec and vtec e

I have been looking at threads and can't find the answer I need. Everyone just keeps posting the power and specs on the motor. I bought a vtec motor but I want to confirm which one it is. It has one vtec solenoid so I know it's not a 3 stage vtec but how can I tell if it's a true vtec? Thank you.

The D15B vtec-e is aside from the block stamp simply a D15Z1 VX engine. The D15B Vtec doesn't directly correspond to anything, but it's similar to a D16Z6 Si engine (same head, intake and exhaust manifolds, same rods)

The intake and exhaust manifolds will give it away at a glance, but if there's some doubt that they're not original to the engine pull the valve cover, if it's got roller rockers it's vtec-e, if not it's a regular vtec engine.

Thank you. I was able to confirm it was a regular vtec. One question is with the vtec solenoid. I noticed it was damaged. Is it the same as a d16?
