b20v ticking sound
Finally put the motor together
Setup
B20v stock block (high compression) motor from jdmengine depot
Fully built gsr head supertec valve train .5 mm over on the valves itr cams fresh valve job....girlfriend destroyed my remote start after the build the car had this habit of turning itself on without me manually hitting the button to do so...I pinched the brand new seal.on the itr oil.pump
during reassembly had an extra changed it lil bit of the gray stuff it was all.good ...The car automatic start while we had the timing belt off...thought we bent a valve...so we readjusted b uh spec for a gsr cylinder head .006-.007 on the intake side .007-.007 on the exhaust according to all data...still here the noise jot as loud b UT still there none the less...called machine shop and was told to look into the lma's need help...oh performed compression check had 210 across the board so definitely not the valves

So...what part of "look at your LMAs" did you need help with? Remove them. Clean them. Reinstall them.

LTC, he said he already set valve lash.
OP, top end ticking is generally one of two things. Valve lash, or failing/dirty LMAs. Remove, clean, and reinstall your LMAs. Simple as that.

Valve lash or LMAs, that is all it can be unless you have noisy injectors...
you need to pull the head apart and check the LMAs like the video shows. if you can't, don't want to, or don't know how then we can't help you and you need to have the head looked at by professionals.

The head was already resurfaced hot tanked cleaned valve job by a reputable machine shop...In fact he was the first call I made and that's who pointed my attention to the lmas
Disassembled the head...as stated the lmas were sticking...only problem I can't get the damn snap ring out to take apart the sleeve and clean the internals of the lma...Help somebody
noticed something while disassembling the head...the cam cap that sits behind the exhaust cam gear or that particular journal was badly scarred...1 while assembling the head the wrong rail was used that sits on top of the cam caps to tighten...the dowel pins were stuck in the rail along wit the dowels in the caps so....2 my mechanic said it didn't feel right when he rotated the cams...3 biggest problem is the cam cap were mismatched...here's the question can caps be machined to fit my head so that i don't ruin or should the head be gutted of the valve train find a donor head that has the cam caps already with it...also saw metal shavings in the vtec solenoid when i disassembled...think i ruined my motor |
Not your entire motor, but yeah, you fucked that head. Never mismatch cam caps. If you have mismatched caps, you can get them line honed, but it sounds like you might already be past that point.

if the lower part of the journal is scored badly the head is fucked... it's part of the head.
you could have someone weld over the damage and then have the caps machined back to spec... but it won't be cheap or fast.
the rails really only go on their respective sides of the head... whoever put your head together had to ******* beat that thing with a hammer to get the dowel pins stuck.
if your mechanic put the head together on the car I'd say he owes you a new head.
or just give the fucked head to me, I need a core to practice porting on, i.e. porting it, cutting runners in half to see how much material can be removed and where, etc.
