Guys I bought a sard fpr and I am wondering if there is a problem with it.

When I turn on the key "do not start it" the pressure goes up on my gauge but quickly drops. I noticed a lot of the fuel exits the return line back to the tank. Is this normal? I am getting ready to start my engine for the first time since I installed my Jackson supercharger and wanted to be sure this would not be a issue first.

 

Check for leaks and ur fuel pump ... The return only works with a constant feed of fuel

 

I am thinking its a bad regulator, its leaking gas at a high rate out of the "drain back" return fitting. I bought this regulator used so its possible its bad.

 

Unless the pump is constantly running, then yes, pressure is going to drop when the pump turns off...I believe there is a check valve built into the pump to keep the fuel from draining all the way back to the tank, but the return line should be unrestricted.

To test the fuel pressure regulator, record the fuel pressure a idle. Then crimp the vacuum line going to the FPR. Fuel pressure should rise since no vacuum is being applied (simulating WOT).

Is it possible the FPR is adjusted incorrectly? (too low letting too much fuel bypass)
Possible failing check valve in the pump?

 

Is it even supposed to hold pressure after the prime and pump off?
I know that's how a standard regulator works - so it does seem odd that yours is dropping off.
Prime with the return crimped and it should hold pressure.

4dref --- yes my regulator will hold pressure for a long time after the car is off and slowly let it out over like a couple hours

My aem fpr act the same way. I just have to let it prime once before staring my car due to the fuel pressure drop. That was one problem I hated about it. Other than that it work good for me being that way.

Does the sticker on yours say 200~800kpa?

That converts to a range of 29psi to 116psi.

 

I read that some of them do not hold pressure, so I think its ok.
