Default Choose my intake manifold

I have a 2 liter at 12.5:1 compression, big cams, 235+ whp.

Currently I'm running a Skunk2 gen 1 intake manifold.

I'm torn between the new Skunk2 Ultra series manifold, or the BBK SSI which has a 70mm TB (Same size TB I'm currently running, no port matching required). The BBK is basically a cleaned up Victor X manifold... short runners, big plenum. The Ultra series has a smaller plenum, but tapered runners and velocity stacks, which is great for power.

I feel like with my current cams I could use the extra top end, so I'm leaning towards the BBK. Anyone have any NA dyno tests between these manifolds, or even the Victor X vs Ultra? Do you think the Ultra series will carry beyond 8000 RPMS?

Here's a current dyno plot.


Header is also going to be changed out, it's currently a DC Sports 4-1 race header.

go with the skunk2 ultra street. See my dyno chart with similar setup.

Your motor seems to carry to 9k no problem. I wonder if that's the manifold or the header. Hrmmm... thanks for the Dyno... I guess the Ultra Street doesn't die off like I thought it did.

I know this comment isn't going to go over very well.... but by looking at your dyno I feel like those cams are a tiny bit too aggressive for your motor. Sorry Derek.

What compression is that?

Its 11:1 tuned on 93octane with 4x2x1 Logic motorsports tri-y header.

Oh, that's why... That's actually REALLY good power for that compression... ****, no wonder. If you were 12:1 that'd be another 10whp on those cams for sure... Maybe more.

Do you like that header? Its on my list along with the Skunk Alpha.

With that "Exact" Setup and Judging from the graph i'd Say BBK you got max torque early. Your RPM drop after shifts is way after the Peak torque, I doubt the Skunk Street Version is gonna shift it higher Drastically. If it was me i'd first change the Header and then decide on an IM based on where the Peak torque afterwards

I feel you on this...

I am trying to plan my build too...12:1 2L with big cams...I am looking at 4 of them though. BBK, S2 Ultra street, Vic X, or AEBS.

Just curious what cams you're going to run for reference?
I am looking at the logic header or PLM SMSP rep header...Skunk 2 is also a contender, but the other 2 have better ground clearance.
I wish you live near me...this would be a good convo

This is what we did to my 1st gen Skunk2 intake. Once we cut the plenum open and started measuring, we found that each runner was a different size. We made all 4 runners equal as possible... My build is still SLOWLY progressing.....

i posted my dyno in another thread. i did a back to back against a bone stock type-R intake manifold. same TB, same Intake pipe... wasnt too impressed with the results. though im sure the results can definitely be different on a different setup/motor.

i also want to add that the Victor X made about 5 more whp than the stock R manifold, but beat it almost everywhere.... so it can def. be driven on the street unlike what most people think....

Carrying torque past 8k is friggin awesome

I want to say BBK because I've always had a crush on that manifold, but have never seen results from using it. I think it's good lookin haha

2L I have a cut/ported 1st gen. Skunk 2 that I would lend if you wanted to do some testing with it? I won't be using it anytime soon.

I profiled based upon his his as awhole, Compression is honestly one of the last things I look at. Its more important to me, on a smaller motor.. But his bigger motor flowed the air for the cams..

Honestly his setup performed legitly. Realize this, His last setup was similar, he picked up like 45WHP from a Manifold and camshaft swap, even dividing that in half, is still 23whp over Shelf cams..alone. Jig's setup worked.. Ask him how many races he's won with the new setup .

As for your question.. I "LIKE" Both the Victor, and the Ultra street. Calvin's had so so results with it.. others have had great results with it.

I think go with your gut and budget, both should easily do what you need em to do.
