Fresh D16Z6 install, first start up and purges
Success guys, I have done my first complete rebuild of my Z6, started up no problem, so happy. Now the crappy part, It starts purging on me cutting in and out. All the sensors are in there correct locations, and I have a check engine light. Also the radiator hose is really hot, but my temp gauge says normal. Do you think it could be air in my system that is causing the in and out purge? Is there a way to check the codes? I have the Rywire OBD0 to OBD1 jumper harness and there is two wires that connect together to show the CEL, yet no codes show up. Thanks for your help in advance guys

Bleed the poop outa the coolant system. Jack the front of the car up. open the rad cap and let it run. Add coolant as necessary, sometimes it takes foreverrr.
I just relized when I first tore down the motor for rebuild, I had to relieve the fuel pressure. I forgot to lock the gas cap back up. Would that cause surging idle or a check engine light?

I don't remember if I did or not. I will try it again tomorrow and let you guys know. I was also thinking about getting it timed correctly and cleaning my IACV.
There seems to be something wrong with your service connector if the cel isn't blinking when you short the connector.
This is the same connector that needs to be shorted in order to set timing so ...
Try shorting the D4 pin on the ECU to ground. This is what the service connector does so no worries. (Key must be turned to "ON")
I dont know what the problem is, everything is connected right, I bled the cooling system, and there is still a god dam check engine light with no ****** codes this is bullshit! I dont need to short the D4 pin since I have the two wires that specificly say Check CEL. Brand new motor and it runs like garbage. When it's cold, its runs smooth, then the idle bounces between 500 and 1500. I dont know what to do.
