Upgrading the engine this winter - JDM! :D QUESTIONS!
I decided it's in my best interest to not bother taking this currently hurt F22B2 engine apart. I did some research and I decided I'd like to go with the F22B DOHC vtec jdm engine. I see the USDM F22B2's trans bolts right up to this engine (as well as the other important parts)
For those that have done these sorts of swaps, what ECU would be easiest to work with?
I dont know of any Honda tuners in the area so if I can just use the stock tune I'd like to. I am not out to get gobs of more power. But since I am replacing the engine, I might as well pick up a few ponies while I am at it.
I have read the H series P14 ECU would work but need to turn off the knock sensor.
I believe the P39 ECU is the stock ECU for this engine but they are hard to come by.
Does the P28 ECU work? It has Vtec and I already have the ECU at home.
This I would most likely need to do a full tune to use though if it is usable - is this true?

also, if I do end up tuning - What is the going rate typically for tunes? What tunign software is used for best bang for the buck? I am used to Cobb/HPTuners/etc, not with those items used for Honda :X
on a side note, any companies make pre-done harnesses to add vtec to these non-vtec cars?? Worst case I'll do non-vtec DOCH JDM F22B but i love how that vtack kicks in

If you are going for a swap get a complete F22B DOHC swap with harness and ECU. Much easier than cobbling parts together and having the engine properly tuned for another ~500.
