Civic wont turn on after turning off
Hey guys I was wondering if you could help me figure out why my car wont start after turning it off for 3 minutes. I recently a motor with 125k put in because my other one died. The guy that sold it said the motor had a bad thermostat and it overheated before removing it. After putting the engine in the car it turns on and everything and runs excellent no weird noises. It's just wont turn back on until after 40 minutes or so.
New things in it when putting in motor
- spark plugs
- spark plug wires
- time belts
- radiator
- radiator fluid
- distributor cap
- replaced main relay ( i though this was it but no )
The motor was sold as a long block and all the parts from the blown d16y7 where put into this one since they are both d16y7
Thanks in advance.

Why would you put a motor that was overheated into your car? Double check the harness is plugged into everything correctly. I would check fuses too just to be safe. Does it crank at least?
Of course i replaced the thermostat. Yes the car turns on and runs. And it keeps turning on if i let it sit for a while. and the engine sounds fine too no weird noises AT ALL. It turns on perfectly after 2 cranks just like every other honda. its not the main relay i tried that already
check with either a BRAND NEW main relay or RESOLDERED main relay. If that still does not work check your grounds or your dizzy. Ignition is simple, fuel, air spark, compression. there is four things you need to check and it sounds like you have three of them already. Hope this helps.
You should be changing the dizzy rotor, when you do the cap. Sorry for getting on your case. It sounds like a ground to me as well. Do yourself a favor and pick up a repair manual for this thing. It will save you alot of time and troubleshooting.
