Quick question do you have to routinely do lifters? Im thinking of buying a 95 civic im not too savvy with honda engines. When he started it up it kinda sounded like lifter tick. Any help would be appreciated

The 4 cylinder Civic, over head cam engines, do not have lifters.

That being said however! These over head cam Honda engines do require regular valve clearance adjustments. It's part of the regular maintenance schedule.

A bit of a ticking sound coming from the top end of an 8 year old OHC Honda engine is normal. If it is really loud, gets worse with RPM or coming from the bottom end, I would steer clear.
