Hi,

I have a 95 honda accord EX vtec. At times my car doesn't start... the CEL stays on (fuel pump doesn't prime for two seconds). But then at random times it'll kick on. If I wait for 15 to 30 seconds it'll usually come on.

So when i take my volt meter and check for voltage at terminal 8 at the main relay, it gets 0 volts while the fuel pump primes and then it comes back to 11.55volts when the car IS working. But when the car ISN'T working, I notice the ECU doesn't cut the voltage at terminal 8, it just stays constant on @ 11.55 volts. So i'm assuming my ECU may be faulty?

The fuel pump is new, main relay is new, and fuel filter is new too. What could be causing my ECU to not turn on my fuel pump?

The check engine light should turn off after a couple seconds or the ecu could be bad if its staying on.

 

Yeah my CEL stays on. Sometimes it takes 15 or 20 seconds for it to go off, and sometimes it takes a couple minutes for it to go off.

What is causing my ECU to go bad? Is it cause it's just old? Cause I took my ECU out and opened it up and everything looked okay (nothing burned or anything).

Is my ECU suppose to turn on whenever it receives a signal from the crank angle sensor?? Or does that have nothing to do with this?

Not sure how exactly it works. When the light comes on supposedly the ecu is checking itself. I would probably source another ecu if it was me.

 

I've ordered a used ECU off ebay. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for now!
