Icon2 D15b7 with d16z6 head vtec won't work

I have all the wires hooked up how they're supposed to be to the ecu (using a diagram I found on here) I have a p28 ecu. No check engine light. I don't know if I have a knock sensor or not cause I haven't looked to see if there's one back there but I figure if something was wrong with the knock sensor the check engine light would be on. I'm not sure if there was something on there to bypass the knock sensor completely or what. Cause if that's the case then maybe my solenoid is just bad? Or my oil pressure switch. I just don't see what I'm missing, as long as I've had the car I've never been able to get vtec to work. A lot of guys on here seem to really know what they're talking about so I'd really appreciate any input on this situation.

How do you know it isn't working? You aren't throwing any codes. Are you able to take it to redline? Are you positive you wired it properly?

I used this picture I found on here to help me out. I wired the oil pressure sensor and the solenoid to the plugs it says to. And I grounded it. But yeah I can redline it and nothing happens. My check engine light comes on every now and then for a minute or two but it's always when I'm driving. I can't get it to come on at the house so I can pull the codes. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the vtec though.

When it throws a code pull over and pull them. Do not shut the car off.

did you pull the oil jet out of the block before you put the head on?

I don't know because the previous owner put the engine in the car. Is there any way to check without pulling the head back off?

No sir, gotta pull the head and in between cylinder 2 and 3 there's a small oil jet, I used a sheet rock screw and my fingers to remove it.

Haha I am yet to hear my b7/z6 start. I think my ecu is bad.
