P28 Question
Hey guys idk if I made a noob mistake but I was talking to a mechanic about my motor and what not I have a d16z6 auto tranny but I took out the p28 so the car won't get stolen since I don't have an alarm or a kill switch for it yet I was told I can just pop it back in and start the car is this true if not what Is necessary? Thanks in advance.
I highly doubt you have any concerns with a D-series Automatic getting stolen. The ECU is worth more than the transmission... then again I guess it depends if you live in the ghetto or not.
But to answer your question, there is no question about it, plug it back in with the key in the OFF position and then proceed to start the car like normal.

I would find a better method of theft prevention than pulling the ecu and main relay. Honda theifs carry that **** around and even if its the wrong ecu (say, a pr4 ecu in a car that needs a p28) itll still start and drive, poorly, but itll still get stolen.
Same goes with main relays.
I have a physical plug I take out that no one would think of looking for, and wouldnt be easily diagnosed. Car will crank, but no fire

Something else to think about...
The connectors at the ECU (actually most of the connectors on the car) are only designed for a handful of connect/disconnect cycles. Start pulling your ECU all the time and they'll go to **** pretty quick, especially on a 20 year old car.
Wire in a kill switch somewhere or otherwise find a better way to secure the car. Electrical gremlins suck.

^ I fully agree, however most people also do a terrible job installing a killswitch too
If you want a foolproof way to stop car thiefs, buy a steering wheel club and a wheel boot. They won't even bother trying to break in, and you don't have to hack up your wiring.
