Clutch opinions
Hello HT. I'm in the middle of a swap and cant decide on a clutch brand. I'm looking for a daily driver with a little more grab. I've always used ACT clutches but most people i talk to are saying go Exedy. Both are priced comparatively. Any thoughts?
Considering that you haven't given us any idea of what you plan on doing with the car, or even what motor you're swapping in, we can't even begin to give you advice. Read the Rules sticky, then fill in the blanks.
Exedy "stage 1" will give you better responsiveness for track days without sacrificing longevity. I wouldn't be caught dead with an OE clutch on a track. If you're more comfortable with ACT, there's nothing wrong with their SPSS kit for what you'll be doing. I'm personally a fan of Competition Clutch, and for something similar to your setup, I'd go with their stage 2 offering, part number 8026-2100.

Get an Exedy instead of an ACT.
LET ME GIVE YOU SOME REALL MAN ADVICE ... don't worry about it .. stage two lightned fly wheel as a package of ebay some Chinese **** for about 150$ you don't need name brand or be worried about too much grab etc... I did stage one and I thought it was just ******* then I went stage 2 for the st daily driver even delivered pizza on and off for years in an urban setting... once you wear that clutch in after 2/3 months youll be just fine with a stage two on the st and you ll be sure to have anough grab on your weekend adventures . also put a short shifter in.. the combination of the three will give you a ferarri type shifting feel where it just falls in and you gotta be a decent driver to where you know your exact shifting points .... it comes naturaly with practice if your running gsr or si tranny on your set up theyre shorter gears and you can up shift in lower load demanding situations and litteraly be crussin in fifth at like 35 lol keep your rpms low and that's it and when you want to romp on it your good to go

H-T supports quality and will adjust the consensus as quality of brands change.
Currently, Exedy is considered some of the best quality for the money at this time. There are other quality clutch makers out there but they are usually a bit more expensive and are only required when you start getting into track use or serious horse power situations.

from me. I ran the Exedy Stage 2 (3 puck cerametallic) for a few years and it was great for a stock block turbo DD. I would imagine their OE replacement to be of the same great quality.

the stage 4 Six puck lost most of its springs yet, the clutch disc itself had life left in it
