Default Code 11

1990 si with a d16z6, converted to obd1, using p28.

I do not have a CEL but when I ground the service connect wire to check for codes I get code 11. Is this normal? One long flash / One short.

I have reset the ECU by pulling the ECU fuse, and get the same result. The car is running fine.

Am I worried about nothing or does my ECU have issues?

if you would have did a little search, you would have found your answer, but here. code 11 is IMA. you need to get that p28 modded. it's looking for something that your car didn't come with.

I have looked on obd1 pin schematics and see no reference for the Idle Mixture Adjuster sensor. To my knowledge the p28 should not be looking for an IMA.

The image shows code 11 as the ECM.

You sure it's not a 1 and 10? There is a short gap and not a long gap?

I figured out what it was.

First, I'm using a full Rywire harness in conjunction with the proper chassis harness. I was tired on my medusa like mess.

I WAS using the original firewall mounted purge solenoid, using the original wiring which is not part of the engine harness but runs directly into the cabin.

For some reason when the solenoid is plugged in it produces code 11. Again, this does not produce a CEL. I only get the code when I ground the service wire.

FYI, the P28 will not generate a CEL when the purge solenoid is unplugged. I forgot to mention the intake manifold I am using did not come with the typical D16Z6 purge solenoid, which was why I was using the firewall mounted one.

Reminds me of my knock sensor on my B16 I had plugged into my P28. Big 'ol fat solid CEL. The p28 didn't have a knock board so it was upset.

Glad you got it sorted out.

Thanks Free.

I love shooting CEL's. At least once they're dead.

I've always understood code 11 to be an 'open code' that can be programmed.
On chipped ECU's a lot of people use 11 for engine temp - when it passes a certain engine temp it pops 11. Very NOT stock.

I just shot myself in the foot.

When I was troubleshooting I pulled my ECU. I was using one of the mount studs to ground my service wire. And so my CEL was not lighting up because it wasn't grounded!
F!

Needless to say, still getting Code 11. Again, this is only when grounding service wire and not a solid CEL. My main concern is A/F issues.

Also, I have a spare ECU, a P08, using this ECU code 11 persists.

From the top with feeling...

I revisited the Rywire install PDF, which describes some of the wires on the chassis specific harness as OPTIONAL. I did not connect the wires described as optional because they are described as optional. The wire for the ELD jumped out at me so I started there. I spliced it to B19 on the cabin harness. Now, when I ground the service connect wire I get a solid CEL. Solid meaning it is on and does not blink. It just stares at me like a good little CEL.

Am I good??

I'm doubtful the code was actually 11 unless you post a video to verify.
