Axle moves but flywheel doesn't - New Tilton Hydraulic T/O Bearing
Not sure if I am being crazy, or not, nut something doesnt seem right to me. My car is a 2000 Civic SI, B18C1 bottom end, B16A2 head. Had the S4C Trans in it. End of December I broke the half shaft in two, broke the CV joint on the passenger side, and my Tilton twin disc went out all at once. Bought a GSR trans with an open diff to put in it temporarily. Upgraded to the Tilton Hydraulic Throw out bearing, along with new clutch discs, floater plates, and pressure plate. Got the trans in last night, put the passenger side axle in. There is no fluid in the trans at this time. I can spin the axle axle and hear movement inside the trans, but the flywheel doesn't move. When I feel inside the diff though the driver side axle hole, I can feel the diff spinning when I turn the passenger side axle, but no movement of flywheel. Should the flywheel move when the axle is turned? I know it has to when you bump start it. Or could it be an issue with the Tilton T/O bearing disengaging the clutch? There is no hydraulic fluid to the clutch at this point. Didn't want to put trans and clutch fluid in until I knew it was right. Any thoughts?
OK, more info. I knew there was something goofy with an open rear end. Unless you have resistence on one axle it will spin free whether in gear or not. As soom as I put a wheel on passenger side and set it down on a ramp, the other axle did not spin in gear, only in neutral. FYI....
