Icon2 b16b compressor

I have a 98 ex with complete b16b swap, with oem ac compressor and oem bracket, I believe it came out of the 97 ctr. Which ac compressor would bolt up to that bracket? I've. Searched for the answer and keep hearing to use the del sol bracket and I could go with the d series compressor, or the crv one. Yet no definate answer on which will bolt up into the stock b16b bracket. Any help would be appreciatef. Thanks.

a b16b bracket would require a b series compressor. (integra/civic si)

Use your original D series compressor.

Use a 1st gen CR-V AC bracket.

Your compressor will bolt to that bracket.

The advantage of using your existing (98 Ex) compressor is that you don't need to have the lines evacuated and re-filled. You unbolt your compressor from your D series AC bracket. Let it hang off to the side as you do the engine swap. You then bolt it back onto the B series via the CRV bracket.

You can alternatively use a bracket from a Del Sol VTEC (B16A3 engine) model. It is more expensive (retail). It does the same thing as the CR-V bracket.

www.bernardiparts.com is a good place for oem Honda parts.

If for some reason you want to have the lines emptied out by a shop to put on a B series compressor, then have them vacuumed and re-filled....

Use any 96-00 Civic or 94-01 integra B series compressor with the B16B bracket. I believe you will need compressor to condenser lines from a 99-00 Si....someone correct me if I'm wrong about the lines. It's been a while.

When we did the swap, we had to use the original lines from the d16y8 engine and it hooked up fine to the b series compressor. I obviously dont want to get a used ctr compressor, I want a new one. I'm. Trying to figure out what will fit without modifying anything as is. Problem is ive got power steering, which means the crv bracket may not fit. Then finding the del sol bracket as far as year model and all.

Couple of questions:

What year range of integra/si would I use?
Or
With the del sol bracket, are you saying use the d series compressor?
Or
With the crv bracket, would I have clearance issues with the b16b power steering?(the deck height is higher on the b16b, not sure about if the power steering is different than the ones I've read about having issues.)

I'm pretty much replacing everything but the lines. Having it emptied by a shop, although I believe it is already empty. Then taking pretty much everything out and replacing, ie; evaporator, thermo expansion valve, reciever/drier, the compressor. Possibly replacing the ac controls because the console has been broken twice by stereo thieves.

So you are saying the e series compressor will bolt up fine? When we did the swap, the lines matched up fine.

??

-The D series compressor will bolt to a 1g CR-V or Del Sol VTEC (93-95 with B16A3 engine) bracket. Not sure what power steering has to do with it.

-A CR-V or Del sol VTEC bracket will bolt to your B16B block

You can use the brackets listed above in order to re-use your D series AC compressor on your B16B.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you want a new B series compressor, buy one for a 99-00 Civic Si or 94-01 Integra (pick a model).

If you buy a B series compressor, re-use the bracket that came with the B16B. Or if it doesn't have a bracket, buy one for a 94-01 Integra (any) or 99-00 civic Si.

Alright, now that's better. Much appreciated. I've read on the forums that the crv bracket would cause clearance issues with power steering, was just looking for a definitive answer on that. However, I do have the b16b bracket (as well as a possible bad b16b compressor,) so it sounds like I should just do the b series compressor off the si or integra.

I'm almost 100% positive that we used a CRV bracket on my friend's EX when we did a B16 swap on it. His PS worked just fine.

A CR-V bracket works fine on a B16B and any other B-series except a B16A Due to the shorter deck height it interferes with the P/S bracket.

^Yep. The B16B is a P72 block. Same as a B18C block.

I ordered the one for integra, got it in yesterday. It just looks so much bigger than the one in it now. We'll see.

why??

In this thread, people have already said...

use a del sol dohc vtec or any 97-01 crv bracket, it allows you to reuse the original D series compressor. This is by far the easiest and reliable option!

I did mention it was a full swap, including the ac and ac bracket, the d16y8 hoses attached to the b16b compressor just fine. The integra Bseries denso compressor was easy enough to find
